Who handles your information
The Jewellery Council of Zimbabwe (JCZ) is responsible for the information submitted through this website. Contact us at infor@jcz.org.zw, 0776 419 002 or 0772 814 658, or at 7th Floor, St Barbara House, Harare, Zimbabwe.
Information we collect
Enquiries include your name, email address, enquiry category and message. Membership applications include company and contact details, business addresses, telephone numbers, licence and tax references, business activities, materials used, employee numbers and your declaration. The site records a submission reference, receipt time and review status.
If you use email sign-in, the authentication provider processes your email address, account password and verification or password-recovery details. Your account password is processed by the authentication provider and is not stored in the Council’s application database. Do not reuse your email-account password. Hosting and security services process technical information such as IP addresses and request logs. The website uses short-lived hashed request identifiers to limit automated abuse.
Why we use it
We use information to respond to enquiries, assess membership applications, communicate decisions, provide access to an applicant’s own status and protect the service from misuse. Submission does not enrol you in promotional mailing lists. Do not include payment-card details, passwords or identity documents in the enquiry form.
Who can access it
Private submissions are available to authorised Council staff. The public directory contains the business information supplied for member listings; licence and tax references from applications are not published automatically. Contact us to correct a directory entry.
Service providers process information needed to deliver hosting, database storage, authentication and email. The current website uses Cloudflare-backed hosting and storage through Sites. Email sign-in, when configured, uses Supabase; Council notification emails, when configured, use Resend. Staff access on this hosted version uses ChatGPT sign-in. These providers can process information outside Zimbabwe. We do not sell application or enquiry data.
Cookies and external content
A necessary, HTTP-only session cookie keeps you signed in for up to one hour. The hosting platform can also use cookies for staff sign-in and security. The homepage displays a TradingView metals-price widget automatically. When you visit the homepage, your browser connects to TradingView, which receives technical information and can use its own cookies or storage under its Privacy Policy. External map and email links open the service you choose.
Retention and security
Information is retained for handling the enquiry or application, maintaining membership records and meeting applicable record-keeping requirements. The appropriate retention period depends on the record and any outstanding matter. Contact the Council for information about a particular record or to request deletion. Deleting a record from the active system does not necessarily immediately remove copies in provider backups.
Access controls, encrypted connections and validation help protect submissions. No website or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your choices and requests
You can ask the Council to access or correct your information, explain its use, or consider a request for deletion, restriction or withdrawal of consent where applicable. We will verify your identity before disclosing or changing private records. Withdrawal does not undo processing already carried out and can affect our ability to complete your application. You can also raise a data-protection complaint with POTRAZ.
Changes to this notice
We will update this page when the website’s handling of information changes. The date above identifies the latest revision.
