Caring for fine jewellery at home

Everyday habits that protect settings, surfaces and sentimental pieces between professional inspections.

Store pieces separately

Chains can tangle and harder gemstones can scratch softer metals or stones. Store items separately in lined compartments or soft pouches, and fasten chains before putting them away.

Clean with care

Use only cleaning methods recommended for the specific metal and gemstone. Some stones, finishes and adhesives can be damaged by strong chemicals, heat or ultrasonic cleaning.

Schedule professional checks

Frequently worn rings, bracelets and watches benefit from regular inspection. A jeweller can identify worn claws, loose stones, weak links and damaged clasps before a small problem becomes a costly loss.
